On a recent trip to the UK I rediscovered my passion for supermarket sandwiches. Cheese & Onion in particular. I had forgotten how much I loved them, and was curious to see how easy they would be to make at home.

After very thorough research, which entailed multiple trips to Marks & Spencer, Tesco, Sainsbury's, Waitrose and Morrisons,  I narrowed down the key ingredients

2oz Red Leceister 2oz Cheddar 2 Tablespoons of sweet onions 2 Tablespoons of mayonnaise 2 slices of bread Butter for spreading Chives or Spring Onions  S&P to taste

I managed to find some Red Leicester at Trader Joe's it has chili's in it which actually worked well, but if you prefer yours on the plainer side head to Whole Foods.  I used vegan mayonnaise but will probably be even tastier with the real thing!  Trader Joe's Organic Whole Grain bread has less than 1g of sugar in it - I find the less sugar the more it tastes like bread from Britain.  Method  Grate the cheeses, finely chop the onion/chive…

Meet Lara Clear Who is from Highbury, London and moved to LA 5 months ago to pursue acting

Was there a particular reason you chose to move to LA?
I moved to LA to work in TV and film. I have been in NYC for a few years as a stage actress . When I decided to switch mediums and pursue more TV and film I knew Los Angeles was the best place to be.

What do you miss most from home?
Above all else I miss my family and friends but I must say I do miss an English cup of tea (the water just seems different here !) Marks and Spencer's, Arsenal FC games , Cadburys chocolate and the English sense of humour !

What was your first impression of LA ?
My first impression of LA was that the weather was just too good to be true! And the palm trees are so tall! Those and the gorgeous blue skies permanently, are picture perfect. It just made me feel very happy to wake up here every day. Santa Monica beach was lovely and I immediately felt like I was meant to live on the west coast after visiting the beach .
